May’s flood caused more than $2 billion in damage in Nashville alone, and there was widespread damage throughout middle Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CBS/AP) County music stars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will hold a concert in December to benefit flood relief in Nashville, Tenn.

Brooks and Yearwood, along with several Tennessee elected officials, made the announcement during a news conference Thursday morning at the old state capital in Nashville.

Brooks is the best-selling solo artist in history with more than 130 million albums sold. He began occasional performances at the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas last December, but otherwise remains retired as he spends time with his children and Yearwood, his wife.

This is currently set to be his only arena show of the year, though CMT reports that Brooks indicated at the press conference that if there is a demand, he will add extra shows. The tickets will reportedly cost $25, plus handling fees.

“If you come to Las Vegas, you’ll see Garth and a guitar. But when you come to Nashville in December you will see the band you know, you will see the light rig that you know, you will see the stage you know, and, hopefully, you will see the best Garth Brooks show you’ve ever seen,” he said, according to Reuters.

May’s flood caused more than $2 billion in damage in Nashville alone, and there was widespread damage throughout middle Tennessee.

Proceeds from the Dec. 17 concert will go to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to provide relief to families who are still struggling after the flood.
